BIOGRAPHY OF DR. ANDREW & PATRIQUE SMELLIE
Chancellor & Vice Chancellor of the International College of Christian Ministries (ICCM)
Dr. Andrew & Patrique Smellie serve as the Lead Evangelist & Women’s Ministry Leader for the Washington DC International Christian Church and Overseers for the Africa & Mid-Atlantic U.S. World Sector of the SoldOut Discipling Movement.
Dr. Andrew & Patrique Smellie were selected as the new Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of the International College of Christian Ministries in December 2024 and have brought a renewed passion and vision for this powerful ministry. In addition to their effective skills in Biblical education and administration, the Smellies are also seasoned ministry practitioners, serving as the Lead Evangelist & Women’s Ministry Leader for the Washington DC International Christian Church and the Overseers for the Africa & Mid-Atlantic World Sector of the SoldOut Discipling Movement. The Smellies have been joyfully married since 2005 and have two beautiful children, Naomi (15) & Isaiah (13). Remarkably, Patrique served as Naomi & Isaiah’s homeschool teacher on multiple subjects during the Smellies’ missionary work in Africa, and both children have achieved straight-A grades as student athletes (track and soccer respectively) since their return to the United States.
Before their call to the ministry, the Smellies earned advanced degrees in Health Administration (Andrew – B.S. & M.H.A – Cornell University) and Public Administration & Law (Patrique – B.A., M.P.A., J.D – Johns Hopkins University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs & Syracuse University College of Law, respectively). After graduating from law school, Patrique practiced Corporate Litigation for four years before opening her own practice. Despite the lucrative career options in the health care industry (Andrew) and a successful legal practice (Patrique), the Smellies answered the call of God to effect lasting spiritual change through the full-time ministry.
After leading multiple churches in the United States for over a decade (2006-2016), the Smellies moved their entire family to the continent of Africa in June of 2016, where they served on the foreign mission fields of Lagos, Nigeria; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Nairobi, Kenya for seven years. By the grace of God and their effective leadership, the number of churches planted and established grew from two to 22 churches in 16 nations in English & French-speaking Africa. In October of 2023, the Smellies returned to Washington, DC to strengthen the church and build the missions training headquarters for the Mid-Atlantic US as they continue to oversee the evangelization of the Motherland of Africa for our family of churches.
The Smellies earned their advanced ministry degrees from the International College of Christian Ministries, where Dr. Smellie specializes in Christian Apologetics. The Smellies are also accomplished speakers, having spoken at conferences, universities and churches on all six populated continents.
