The European Degree System
Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate Degrees – has been one of the most successful European cultural exports. “The Doctorate” (Latin: docio) originated in Medieval Europe as a license to teach (Latin: licentia docendi) at Medieval Universities. Its roots can be traced to the early church when the term “Doctor” referred to the Apostles, Church Fathers and other Christian authorities who taught and interpreted the Bible. This academic program is now present in almost every part of the world – even in China and Saudi Arabia, which are countries not viewed as being “pro-western.” From our First Commencement Ceremony in 2013 until now, we have awarded Bachelor’s Degrees, Master’s Degrees, and Doctoral Degrees in Ministry, Shepherding, Administration and Charity.
Why It Matters
Although many of God’s people are “unschooled” and “ordinary” (Acts 4:13), it is the mission of ICCM to not simply stay that way. Our graduates not only grow in their personal walks with God, but also their Biblical convictions and academic excellence. The graduates then take these fundamentals to “every nation” (Matthew 28:18-20) through becoming worldwide missionaries. These degrees greatly help facilitate our missionaries and their ability to receive their visas.
